Public Comes Out Against Convenience Store and Gas Pumps at 12th and Fayette

Last night was the final hearing regarding the proposed convenience store and gas pump at the Moore property at 12th and Fayette. We were unable to attend, so we are going to link you to the Times Herald article on the meeting. According to the Times Herald article, more than 17 people spoke against the proposal and one spoke in support (commenting on Facebook doesn’t count).

As you will read in the article, the big question is not whether you want a “Wawa” or similar type store at that location, but whether a hardship was proven. Would it be economically impossible to develop that property in a manner that fits the current zoning? That was going to be tall order to prove based on new townhome communities going up in every nook and cranny in and around the Borough of Conshohocken.

The Zoning Hearing Board will render its decision on August 10th. From then, it could end up in court if either side decides to take it a step further.
