Rick’s Tavern to open in May in Conshohocken

On March 11th, MoreThanTheCurve.com first reported that Rick’s Tavern would be the new name of the former Pizza Time/Old Time Saloon that essentially rebuilt into a modern restaurant at the corner of West 7th Avenue and Maple Street in Conshohocken. At the time the projected opening date was in April, but in a press release offered on March 20th, it was announced that the restaurant will open in May.

That initial article also reported that Chef Derek Davis had been hired by Rick and Gale Mahoney of RG Restaurant Group, the owner of Rick’s Tavern, to lead the kitchen at Rick’s Tavern and also fulfill the Mahoney’s vision for the other four restaurants they own: Guppy’s Good Times, Kaede Sushi & Noodle Co., and Tony & Joe’s. Davis has a celebrated culinary history in Manayunk, helping launch that neighborhood of Philadelphia into a dining destination with restaurants such as Sonoma, Derek’s, and Kansas City Prime.

After purchasing Pizza Time/Old Time Saloon in 2023 and then closing it in 2025 to create a new restaurant, the Mahoney’s have consistently promised to bring back elements of Pizza Time loved by the customers. There were questions about this following are initial article and the press release states, “the new concept offers a modern take on casual Italian cuisine, blending neighborhood nostalgia with elevated culinary artistry” and included the following quote from Gale Mahoney.

“With Rick’s Tavern, we wanted to capture the community spirit of the original Pizza Time Saloon while introducing something entirely fresh for today’s diners. Having Chef Derek lead our team is an honor; his ability to create a menu that is both sophisticated and approachable is exactly what will make this the new go-to destination for our neighbors.”

Once open, Rick’s Tavern will offer online ordering for pickup and delivery, full-service catering, and a versatile layout perfect for private events and celebrations.
