Sinkholes have closed 202 in both directions in King of Prussia

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced on December15th that that U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) has been closed in both directions between Saulin Boulevard and Henderson Road in King of Prussia (Upper Merion) due to sinkholes.

During the closure of northbound and southbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike), motorists will be directed to use Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard. Local access will be maintained for all residents and businesses.

The problem started on the morning of December 14th when a sinkhole in the right travel lane closed Northbound U.S. 202 between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard. Southbound U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) was then closed just after 7:00 p.m. on December 17th, following the discovery of a new sinkhole under the southbound travel lanes.

According to PennDOT, the road will be closed and detoured until engineers can further assess the extent of the damage and The road will remain closed until PennDOT engineers can further assess the extent of the new damage and develop a plan to complete repairs and reopen the road.
