Things starting to look a little different on MoreThanTheCurve.com

The algorithm!

We have resisted!

But alas, it is time to make some changes.

As you may have noticed recently on MoreThanTheCurve.com’s Facebook Page, MoreThanTheCurve.com has now started posting an image directly to Facebook, writing a headline, and asking you to check the first comment to find the link to the full article.

Unfortunately, this is what Facebook is forcing us to do to get MoreThanTheCurve.com’s content into your feed. It is really a work around, as Facebook discourages content that encourages you to leave its platform (such as a link to the MoreThanTheCurve.com website). Much larger news sites than ours have been doing this for a year. We think it looks stupid, but what can we do. Zuckerberg!

We have also started posting a lot more stand alone images and videos with a short description directly to Facebook and Instagram (eventually TikTok and YouTube.com). In the past, we always wanted every piece of content to lead you to the website, but now we must adjust to keep our social media accounts visible and relevant.

To kick this off we have been posting historical images and photos from MoreThanTheCurve.com’s archives directly to Facebook and Instagram. Everyone seems to love it and it is working. This type of direct to social media content has increased our Facebook views by 148% and engagement by 134%. The more relevant our page, the more of our news content will land in your feed (we hope).

However, the best way to stay connected to what is happening locally is to subscribe to our newsletter (see below). We currently send out a daily email in the morning with the latest headlines, etc. We can remove the social media middle man and connect directly. Occasionally, we send out another email to specifically advertise a sponsor, event, or merchandise we are selling. But that is really it.

However, all of our data tells us that people are engage with MoreThanTheCurve.com the most on Sunday evenings. Due to this, we are going to introduce a Sunday night Weekly Recap that shares the most important things that happened the past few days. This is scheduled to start Sunday, February 22nd.

We also recently updated our privacy policy. You can read that here.

Please consider subscribing to our email newsletter below. We do not need Zuckerberg standing between us! Get the latest newsletters straight to your inbox!
