Throwback Thursday | Sledding on Dechert Road in 1960

In this week’s Throwback Thursday, we have a photograph from the February 15, 1960 edition of the Philadelphia Evening Bulletin that is titled “Giant sled provides fun for dozen youngsters.”

The caption from the newspaper on that snowy day read:

Mrs. Jerome Vragel (left) pushes 12 children along Dechert Road in the Andorra Acres section of Whitemarsh Township. Mrs. Floyd Justice pilots the oversized sled.

Dechert Road is off Cedar Grove Road. We aren’t sure about back then, but today at least a portion of the Andorra Acres section of Whitemarsh has a Conshohocken address.

The kids on the sled look to be three to four years old, which would make them about 65 today.

Does anyone remember being on this sled?
