The Philadelphia Business Journal reported on July 29th that Upper Merion Township had sought a $20 million grant through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program to help fund the development of a 7,500-seat stadium on property near the Valley Forge Casino Resort. The funding, which was not approved, would have gone to studies to determine if a stadium was viable. While no tenants were mentioned, it was reported to be a stadium suitable for a minor league baseball club and a pro soccer team. The township could file another grant request in the future.
