Urban Search & Rescue to conduct training in neighborhoods surrounding Colwell Lane and Colwell Park in Conshohocken

Plymouth Township has announced that Urban Search & Rescue Specialists from the Southeastern PA Regional Task Force (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, & Philadelphia Counties) will conduct GIS-based damage assessment training on Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23rd.

Over the two days, from noon to 4:00 p.m., US&R specialists will have field-based, hands-on training in the neighborhoods surrounding Colwell Lane and Colwell Park in Conshohcoken (Plymouth Township). Residents are advised that they can “expect to see US&R specialists walking through the neighborhoods and emergency vehicles legally parked on neighborhood streets. All Specialists will remain on sidewalks or public property and will not encroach on any private property during the training exercise.”

GIS stands for Geographic Information System. GIS-based damage assessment training assists emergency managers, municipalities, and elected officials in assessing damage and coordinating recovery efforts after a large-scale weather event.
