The Covanta trash to steam plant off Alan Wood Road in Plymouth Township has been the subject of controversy recently.

In December there was a loud banging noise and nearby residents reported a burning plastic smell. Covanta has stated that the noise was definitely the result of the shutdown process of the plant, but that the smell was not a result of the malfunction.

The December incident led to the creation of a Facebook Group, Covanta Plymouth Trash Incinerator- Community Information & Action. This group held an event last week and PBS39 News covered the event and the overall issue.
