West Conshohocken and Conshohocken police arrest carjacking suspect on the Schuylkill Expressway

On January 26th, the West Conshohocken Police Department posted on social media details about a carjacking that started in Norristown and resulted in a chase through Bridgeport and into West Conshohocken before ending on the Schuylkill Expressway.

The incident started on Friday, January 22nd just after 3:30 p.m. when police in Norristown responded to a call involving a carjacking involving a gun. The male suspect was able to flee the scene in a blue Mercedes Benz and was next spotted in Bridgeport, where it was involved in two accidents. Bridgeport police pursued the vehicle on Conshohocken State Road into West Conshohocken where West Conshohocken and Conshohocken police pursued onto the expressway.

West Conshohocken Police Officer Daniel Webster stated that once on the expressway he observed the Mercedes strike another vehicle and then the Jersey barrier on the right shoulder. The suspect then fled on foot and jumped the barrier into the westbound lanes while being pursued by Officer Webster and Detective William Waters of the Conshohocken Police Department who joined the pursuit in West Conshohocken. The suspect then attempted to open a car door and carjack another vehicle.

Detective Walters and Officer Webster, along with Lolli (K-9), followed the suspect over the median divider and drew their weapons. Officer Webster gave verbal commands to stop and that he had a K-9. The suspect then surrendered and a weapon was recovered from the Mercedes.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported back to Norristown to be charged.
