West Conshohocken, Whitemarsh Township, and Plymouth Township issue burn bans following lack of rain

The notice from West Conshohocken reads as follows:

Borough of West Conshohocken Burn Ban Declaration. Due to drier than normal conditions, no significant rainfall being forecast and below normal rainfall throughout the Borough, a concern for potential fires exists. The Borough of West Conshohocken has declared a burn ban to be in effect. This Declaration shall take effect Thursday October 31, 2024 to Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at which time the Borough of West Conshohocken may extend this burn ban emergency. This declaration prohibits any fires including recreational fires, highway safety flares, smudge pots, and any other type of fires. The use of propane grills or charcoal grills for cooking is not prohibited under this declaration if they are used in accordance with manufacturers specifications. The use of indoor fireplaces is not prohibited if the chimney has an intact spark arrestor installed.

In Whitemarsh Township, the notice reads as follows:

Whitemarsh Township has issued a temporary burn ban effective 10/31/2024. This ban will last 30 days and prohibits open fires, including recreational fire pits and fireworks. There will be no permits issued for bonfires, campfires or fireworks displays during this time period. The ban is due to the extended period of dry conditions affecting Whitemarsh Township and the potential for uncontrollable fire spread and wildfires. In Plymouth Township, the notice reads as follows:

Plymouth Township is implementing a burn ban until further notice. The PA DCNR has issued a HIGH fire danger warning due to the dry weather conditions and increased risk of uncontrolled fires. All issued burn permits are SUSPENDED until the ban is lifted. Do NOT use any fire pits, campfires, chimeneas, fireworks, or other outdoor open flame producing devices. Barbecue grills are acceptable as long as the lids are kept closed while cooking and extinguished immediately after cooking is done.
