West Valley Green Road Bridge replacement scheduled to start in 2024

As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported, an Amazon Prime van struck the height restriction barrier at the West Valley Green Road Bridge in Whitemarsh Township on December 13th. The van was basically cut in half.

Due to the severity of the damage, MoreThanTheCurve.com asked Montgomery County if it is concerned that the temporary remedy to allow the bridge to be open (with height and weight restrictions) has created a dangerous situation along the roadway. We also inquired about the schedule to replace the bridge.

Below is the response from Montgomery County:

The West Valley Road Bridge replacement is funded by federal funds through the Federal TIP program (Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) | FTA (dot.gov)) and is scheduled to begin construction in 2024. The current measures were put in place for public safety, and there are no plans to change them at this time. The rumble strips, illuminated four-way stop signs, and illuminated height bar were installed to notify drivers of the height and weight restrictions as they approach the bridge.

So be sure to back off any larger vehicles approaching the bridge because you don’t want to be too close if it strikes the height restriction barrier.
