What to do if PECO has a pole lying along your sidewalk. We contacted them about one in Conshohocken

MoreThanTheCurve.com recently shared a photo on Instagram of a PECO pole that has been lying along the sidewalk in front of 411 East Elm Street in Conshohocken for more than a year (that we can verify) and likely at least two years. Our accountant is located in a nearby building, and we walk by the pole regularly. We have noted it for some time as it partially blocks the sidewalk and is a tripping hazard.

In our Instagram post, which received a big response, we tagged PECO and asked them about the pole. A couple of days later, we got a message asking for the address. We will let you know if we hear more. If you live near or work near the pole, let us know if you see it disappear (or whether it stays put).

This isn’t an isolated incident. Poles left around the Queen Village neighborhood in Philadelphia led The Philadelphia Inquirer to publish an article in September 2023 titled “Queen Village residents say Peco poles have blocked sidewalks for months. They don’t know what else to do.” The month prior, Axios Philly had a similar article focused on the Bella Vista neighborhood.

The gist of the articles is that you can report forgotten poles to PECO. At least some of the poles mentioned in the articles have been removed. Some concerned citizens went straight to PECO and, if that didn’t work, asked for help from their local elected officials. You can use an online form from PECO here.
