Whitemarsh Township’s Board of Supervisors voted to acquire Butler Pike property for open space

The Whitemarsh Township Board of Supervisors voted unanimously during its November 4th meeting to acquire the property at 4046 Butler Pike in Plymouth Meeting for $810,000 for the purposes of open space. The Township will use Act 153 Open Space funds for the purchase. The price of the property was determined through an assessment.

The property is 2.71 acres and falls within the Plymouth Meeting Historic District. It is adjacent to the Abolition Hall property, which the township is also in the process of acquiring. It entered into an agreement of sale to purchase the Abolition Hall property in April of this year. All together both properties will total approximately 13 acres.

The 4046 Butler Pike property currently has a single-family home on it that is vacant and in disrepair.

The township anticipates settlement on the property before the end of the year.
