Conshohocken Man Struck by Police Car in Lower Pottsgrove

A 52 year old Conshohocken man was struck by a police car in Lower Pottsgrove on East High Street. From the Sanatoga Post:

The victim was a pedestrian; his name and home address were withheld. He was “walking in the center of the westbound traffic lane” at about 11:10 p.m. in the 1600 block of East High when he was hit by a patrol car being driven by department Sgt. Scott Weidenhammer, according to a Saturday (July 23) press release from Foltz. The sergeant “failed to see the pedestrian,” according to the chief.

The man “sustained serious injury” and was transported to Paoli Hospital, the release stated. No injuries were reported for Weidenhammer. In addition to being the focus of the detectives’ probe, the sergeant also will be subject to a “standard procedure” internal affairs investigation to determine if he violated any department policies, according to Foltz.
