Conshohocken’s Borough Council to Consider a Medical Marijuana Ordinance

On the agenda for the Wednesday, March 1st meeting of Conshohocken’s Borough Council is an item involving a decision whether to authorize advertising for a medical marijuana ordinance. Before a ordinance can be added, removed or altered, it has to be advertised so the public can have a chance to weigh in on the matter.

We do not have any information on this, but other municipalities have been considering allowing dispensaries and/or growing operations now that the state is going to allow it. Bridgeport’s Borough Council recently publicly supported a growing operation.

Conshohocken’s Commercial Zoning District already permits the sale of “drugs.” CVS is in the Commercial Zoning District which exists along Fayette between Elm Street and 8th Avenue. Whether the sale of medical marijuana would fall under the generic sale of “drugs” is something that will need to be learned during the meeting. It will also be interesting to learn if this is the Borough preparing for an eventual effort to bring a medical marijuana business to Conshohocken or if it reacting to an existing proposal.

The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Borough Hall at West 4th Avenue and Fayette Street.

More to come.
