Historian Examines Whether Conshohocken is “Coming Back” or “Being Taken Over”

Historian Michael Tolle has been examining the history and future of the boroughs that dot the Schuylkill River as it flows towards Philadelphia, which includes West Conshohocken and Conshohocken. He first asked the question as to whether the reasons the Borough of West Conshohocken was created still exist and if there is not an argument to be made for merging back into Upper Merion Township (Part 1, Part 2).

Tolle has now taken up Conshohocken and examines the role that the automobile played in the decline of Conshohocken and how current redevelopment proposals could cement Conshohocken as a business and commuter exit. Note that the title of the three part series about Conshohocken is, “Is Conshohocken Coming Back, or Just Bring Taken Over.” Tolle asks this question because his emphasis is on community, not shiny new buildings, as what makes Conshohocken, Conshohocken.
