Final celebration planned before demolition of Kennedy-Kenrick High School

Pope John Paul II High School has announced a final celebration at Kennedy-Kenrick High School in Norristown on August 17th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The school is scheduled for demolition to make way for a residential development. A date for demolition has not been announced.

Pope John Paul II High School was created due to the consolidation of two Catholic schools, including Kennedy-Kenrick. Kennedy-Kenrick was itself the creation of consolidation when Archbishop Kennedy in Conshohocken and Bishop Kenrick high schools were merged in 1993. Kennedy-Kenrick held its final graduation in 2010.

Attendees won’t be permitted in the building to run through the halls one last time (due to the conditions inside), however, the event will include opening a time capsule from 1993.
