West Conshohocken receives grant towards renovations at MacKenzie Park

The Borough of West Conshohocken announced on November 7th that it is the reciepent of a $500,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Local Share Account program that will go towards supporting the borough’s comprehensive renovation of MacKenzie Park.

“This grant enables us to revitalize MacKenzie Park without imposing additional financial burdens on our residents,” stated Stephen Blumenthal, council president of West Conshohocken. “As the son of a longtime college basketball coach who has worked at all levels and is currently involved with a Division I program, I grew up playing in public parks and coming home when the streetlights turned on. I understand the profound impact that quality recreational facilities can have on a community. We, as a Borough Council, are committed to enhancing our community’s recreational facilities for that very reason, and this funding brings us closer to that goal.”

“Securing such substantial funding without a matching requirement is unprecedented in West Conshohocken,” noted Blumenthal. “This achievement is a testament to the diligent efforts of our Borough Council, professional staff, and our engineer.”

The park renovation project includes the construction of a new park pavilion structure, the installation of a modern community recreational outdoor basketball court facility with two courts, and comprehensive stormwater management improvements. The grant, which does not require matching funds, allows the borough to proceed with these enhancements promptly. The project is expected to be completed no later than 2027.
