All residents of Marshall Lee Towers in Conshohocken have been temporarily relocated following fire

As MoreThanTheCurve.com reported on April 2nd, a fire broke out at Marshall Lee Towers in Conshohocken on Monday, March 31st. The fire started in a mechanical room on the top floor of the building and involved one of two elevators.

While no apartments were damaged and there were no injuries, the fire happened at a very inopportune time as the building is undergoing a $1.3 million upgrade to its elevators. The elevator not impacted by the fire was recently taken out of service while it was being upgraded. The lone operating elevator has now been removed from service due to the impact of the fire, leaving the building without a functioning elevator.

The Montgomery County Housing Authority owns the seven-story, 80-unit building that houses seniors and disabled individuals. According to Joel Johnson, the authority’s executive director, without a working elevator, the authority has moved all of the building’s residents to a hotel. It is not yet known how long the residents will need to stay at the hotel.
