19-year-old Narberth woman arrested following evading police in vehicle and hitting tree in Conshohocken. Six people were in the car

Social media in Conshohocken was abuzz on the evening of July 13th, wondering what was happening along the riverfront area. People reported seeing police pursuing a vehicle through the parking lot of The Grande, and then a large police presence near the helipad that included boats.

According to a press release from the Borough of Conshohocken Police Department, officers attempted to stop a vehicle that had been reported stolen, and 19-year-old Brielle Joan Womack of Nartbeth attempted to flee, first in the vehicle and then on foot after the vehicle struck a tree. Six people were in the vehicle. Police were notified of the vehicle’s presence in the borough through license plate reader technology.

Four people were taken into custody, and two remain at large and are believed to have left the area. The search for the pair included a K-9, a UAV drone, and rescue boats from the fire department. Assisting with the search were first responders from West Conshohocken, Whitemarsh, Plymouth, Springfield, Abington, and Lower Merion. One occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital after the vehicle hit the tree.

According to court documents, police interviewed those taken into custody and confirmed that Womack was the driver of the vehicle. Some of the occupants expressed to police that they had been concerned about the way she was driving and had asked her to pull over.

Womack was charged with three felonies: Receiving Stolen Property, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer, and Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot. In addition, she was charged with resisting arrest and six counts of reckless endangerment, and other related charges.

Womack had a preliminary arraignment on July 14th at 9:30 a.m. Magisterial District Judge Adam T. Katzman set bail at $25,000. Womack was unable to post bail and is detained at the Montgomery County Prison. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 23rd before Magisterial District Judge Dara A. Nasatir.
