Conshohocken man charged with drug delivery that resulted in death of a Whitemarsh resident

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and Whitemarsh Township Police Chief Christopher Ward announced on November 6th that 48-year-old Rasheed Cotton of Conshohocken had been arrested on charges including Drug Delivery Resulting in Death in connection with the April 21, 2026 overdose death of a 39-year-old Whitemarsh Township resident.

According to the announcement, Whitemarsh Township Police responded to a residence on the 4100 block of Christie Circle on April 21st at approximately 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive person. Officers discovered a deceased victim inside the home and, during the subsequent investigation, recovered suspected fentanyl and other pills.

Whitemarsh Township Police and Montgomery County Detectives conducted a joint investigation into the death and a “review of the victim’s cellphone found extensive communication with a contact identified as ‘Sheed’ regarding the purchase of narcotics.” Detectives used subscriber records and other investigative steps to identify “Sheed” as Rasheed Cotton.

The investigation found that the victim and Cotton had been “communicating about narcotics transactions for months prior to the victim’s death and remained in contact in the days leading up to the fatal overdose.” Detectives utilized surveillance video and license plate reader data to corroborate meetings between Cotton and the victim that “were consistent with the drug transactions discussed in the phone conversations.” Cotton was then arrested and charged with Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Possession With Intent to Deliver, and related charges.

Cotton was taken into custody on November 2nd and was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Edward Levine. Bail was set at 10% of $100,000. After a bail review hearing on November 4th before Court of Common Pleas Judge Steven T. O’Neill, bail was changed to $100,000 cash. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 18th at 11:00 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Dara A. Nasatir. This case will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Courtney McMonagle.

The charges and allegations contained in the article are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
