A 1948 map shows a proposed route for the Schuylkill Expressway that would cross the Schuylkill River at Conshohocken. This version of the expressway would have run along the western side of the river between Philadelphia and Conshohocken, where it would cross the river and continue to King of Prussia. That plan was dropped, and starting in 1949, the expressway was constructed on the eastern side of the river over the next decade.
If this plan had gone through, the expressway would have run through the Miquon section of Whitemarsh Township, and there would likely have been entrances and exits on and off the road in places much different from the ones that exist today in Whitemarsh Township and the Borough of Conshohocken.
