Aqua to work to replace aged water main pipes in Conshohocken through July

The Borough of Conshohocken issued a notice yesterday that Aqua Pennsylvania has started construction to replace aging water main pipes within six areas of the borough. The areas are:

  • Harry Street from 3rd Avenue to 8th Avenue
  • E 4th Avenue from Harry Street to Hallowell Street
  • E 6th Avenue from Harry Street to Hallowell Street
  • E 7th Avenue from Harry Street to Wells Street
  • Hallowell Street from E 5th Avenue to E 8th Avenue

The work is part of Aqua’s continuing infrastructure improvement program to improve service reliability for customers in Conshohocken. The new water main will reduce the potential for main breaks and discolored water and improve water flow in the area. Construction is expected to be completed in July 2021.

The work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Construction may also take place on Saturdays in some cases. Access will be provided for emergency, mail, and trash service. Residents will have access to their properties, but at times may need to enter from different directions due to changing work zones.

Construction areas on the road will be covered with temporary blacktop at the end of each workday. Aqua Pennsylvania will notify customers ahead of any planned water service interruptions and will provide 48 hours advance notice for any scheduled interruption greater than 30 minutes.

Following installation, the new main will be flushed, chlorinated, and tested for water quality before being placed into service. During the chlorination/testing phase, activity on the job site will be limited. Once the water quality testing has been completed, each water service and fire hydrant will be transferred to the new main.
