Candidates file paperwork to run for office in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth, and Whitemarsh, along with the Colonial School Board

The primary election is set for May 20th, and the general election will follow on November 4th. Locally, seats are up for election on the Colonial School Board, and in Conshohocken, West Conshohocken, Plymouth Township, and Whitemarsh Township. Below is a breakdown by school district and municipality. Please note that this is based on an unofficial list shared by Montgomery County and could change if any of the paperwork filed is successfully challenged.

The Colonial School District

Voters will pick four candidates from a field of four. Everybody is a winner! All four candidates have cross-filed as Democrats and Republicans, so they will appear on both ballots in the primary.

Incumbent Gail Plant
Incumbent (through appointment) Rasheda Randall
Incumbent Sharon Marino
Tomas Santiago

The Borough of Conshohocken

The two candidates running for mayor are unopposed in the primary, setting up a rematch between incumbent Mayor Yaniv Aronson (D) and Michael Makoid (R).

Incumbent and longtime tax collector Dominic Coccia Jr. (R) is unopposed in the primary and the Democrats do not have a candidate for this office in the primary.

The two candidates running to represent Ward 2 on borough council are unopposed in the primary, setting up a rematch between incumbent Adrian Serna (D) and Richard Kosich (R).

The current council member for Ward 4, Anita Barton, is not seeking re-election, which makes it an open seat with no incumbent. The two candidates running, Daniel McArdle (D) and Michael Patitucci (R), are unopposed in their primaries.

Ward 6 was, in recent years, the last holdout represented by a Republican. Four years ago, Stacy Ellam won as a Democrat. She is now the incumbent and unopposed in the primary. The Republicans do not have a candidate.

Borough of West Conshohocken

Incumbent Mayor Danelle Fournier (D) is running unopposed in the primary, and there is no Republican candidate.

The same goes for incumbent Democrat Tax Collector Jerry Conicello. He is unopposed in the primary and there is no Republican candidate.

Due to a resignation, a two-year seat on borough council is up for election. Running for this seat is incumbent Tori Conicello-Emery (D), who is unopposed, and there is no Republican candidate.

Three other council seats are up for election, all for a full four-year terms. Running are incumbent Democrats Stephen Blumenthal, Tara Gorney, and Richard Marr (incumbent by appointment), so there is not a competitive primary. One Republican, Walter Gleba, is running.

Plymouth Township

There are three seats on the council up for election.

Christopher Manero (D) seeks to return to office after serving two terms previously and having to sit out a term due to term limits. He is unopposed in the primary.

In Ward 1, current Colonial School Board member William Winchester Jr. (D) is running unopposed in the primary.

In Ward 3, Incumbent Lynne Viscio (D) is running unopposed in the primary.

There are no Republican candidates in Plymouth Township.

Whitemarsh Township

Two seats on the board of supervisors are up for election, and both parties actually have two candidates. How refreshing!

Incumbent Patrice Turenne (D) is running for re-election and will be joined in the primary by Megan Griffin-Shelley (D).

On the Republican side, Christi O’Donoghue and Fran X. O’Donnell are running.

As there are only two candidates running in each party, both pairs are almost guaranteed to advance to the general election. In the general election, voters will pick two candidates.
