The Philadelphia Business Journal reports that Johnson Matthey is closing it facility off River Road in West Conshohocken (Upper Merion Township). From the Philadelphia Business Journal:
Johnson Matthey Inc., a chemical manufacturer, is closing its plant off of River Road in Upper Merion, Pa., and laying off 119 employees, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.
The closure and layoffs will be taking place between June 8 and Aug. 31, according to the WARN. It couldn’t be determined what prompted the company, which is based in England but maintains its North American headquarters at 435 Devon Park Drive in Wayne, Pa., to close the facility. A spokesperson couldn’t be immediately reached for comment.
The plant is basically located on the other side of the river from the steel plant (which isn’t closing, but is idling a portion of the plant).
