Church on the Mall in Plymouth Meeting has closed after 60 years

The Church on the Mall, located at the Plymouth Meeting Mall in Plymouth Meeting, has closed its doors after 60 years. The announcement was made on Facebook, stating, “To all our past followers, please note that Church on the Mall has closed its doors after 60 years of existence. Thank you.”

The Presbytery of Philadelphia, which the Church on the Mall is part of, made an earlier statement on February 18th that pointed to the sale of the mall as the reason for the closure. The statement read:

Church on the Mall began worshiping in the Plymouth Meeting Mall in 1966. After a vibrant ministry in that space for sixty years, the mall has been sold and is repurposing the space, requiring the congregation to vacate its building. On February 14, 2026, Church on the Mall held its final worship service in their sanctuary. Led by their pastor, Rev. Lori Kosinski, over fifty people came to celebrate their faithful ministry. Stories were shared of the countless people served in that space, from church members to recovery groups to dance classes and more. We are encouraged by the faithful witness of Church on the Mall to be the church in a relevant way, even when that way is temporary.

While the mall is in the process of being sold, it hasn’t yet, and isn’t expected to close until May, according to an article in The Philadelphia Inquirer on April 23rd. No proposed plans for the mall have been on any agenda for approval. People familiar with the mall situation have also told us that tenants won’t be affected for at least a year, possibly two. For example, there is a business named Time Over Time listed as “opening soon” on the mall’s website.

More to come on the future of the mall.
