Business Insider reports that Cineworld, the parent company of Regal Cinemas, which is currently going through bankruptcy proceedings, will close 39 locations across the country in mid-February. While the theater in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township) will stay open, the location in Oaks will be shuttered.
The movie theater business has not returned to pre-pandemic levels, which occurred about the same time streaming services exploded. The Business Insider article shares figures from Comscore that show the movie theater business is down just under $4 billion from 2018 and 2019.
