Conshohocken number one in new housing units in Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Planning Commission released a report this week detailing where new housing units were built in the county during 2022. The Borough of Conshohocken was number one with 584 units. You can view the complete report here.

What is interesting is that Conshohocken is the second smallest municipality on this list, famously one square mile. Ambler is a tiny bit smaller. Lansdale is approximately three square miles. The others are much larger townships.

The below table is data we took from the report and condensed to just show the municipalities MoreThanTheCurve.com covers on a day-to-day basis. It shows how many housing units existed in each community as reported by the 2020 Census, and then the number of units that were added after the Census and the end of 2022.

As you can see, Conshohocken added approximately 300 more units than Plymouth Township, which had the next highest number. It is also important to note that almost all of the new units are multi-family developments, which the county defines as mainly apartments and condominiums, which are usually compromised of buildings having two or more units with entrances that share a common hallway.

Conshohocken is likely to be at or near the top for 2023 as the new apartment development along West Elm Street is set to be completed in the early fall. It will have 352 units.
