Two of four planned pocket parks were completed by the Borough of Conshohocken in 2024. Earlier this year, the borough added a pathway with benches and picnic tables at the Fritz Lodge property at the intersection of Fayette Street and East 8th Avenue. More recently, similar work was completed on a small property between the Santander Bank and Conshohocken United Methodist Church along the 600 block of Fayette Street. In both cases, the borough worked with the property owner on an agreement to construct the park and maintain the property to allow for the public use of the space.
The third park involves space that has long served as a memorial to veterans at the intersection of Fayette Street and West 2nd Avenue. While the property will continue to serve as the home to the memorial and statue named “The Family,” a public space will be added.
During the December 18th meeting of Conshohocken’s borough council, the council voted to advertise the Veterans Memorial Plaza Ordinance, which, if adopted, would create a vehicle turnaround on the upper portion of the unit block of West 2nd Avenue reachable from Forrest Avenue and allow for the creation of a plaza on the bottom half of the block from Fayette Street. Details about the plan for Veterans Memorial Pocket Park can be found here.

The fourth pocket park planned is the Raymond Ludwig Weinmann, Sr. Memorial Park on the property that the borough purchased from Weinmann’s estate located at the intersection of Fayette and East Elm streets. The park would effectively surround The Outbound Station on three sides and is adjacent to the Schuylkill River Trail. This park will consist mostly of grass and trees with a walkway and some seating. In recent years, the property has been a parking lot with 30-40 spaces. On December 19th, a “Welcome to Conshohocken” signage was installed in the future park to be displayed facing in two directions at the base of the Matsonford Bridge.
More to come as the final two parks are completed.
