Conshohocken police make arrests in vehicle thefts. One suspect swam across the river in attempt to evade police

On March 7th, the Conshohocken Police Department announced the arrest of two individuals on February 28th who were caught attempting to steal vehicles in the Washington Street area of the borough’s riverfront.

Police tied this arrest to the recent theft of a vehicle valued at $109,000 in the same area. Police recovered the stolen vehicle and identified the vehicle used by the suspects.

On February 28th, police staked out the same area and responded when the suspects arrived in the identified vehicle. Three suspects fled the scene on foot. One was caught in the area, while a second swam across the Schuylkill River and was taken into custody on the other side. A third suspect evaded police and is being sought by police.

Police recovered the stolen vehicle that the suspects were using and a handgun. Tools and electronics often used to steal a vehicle were also recovered.

Court records show that 27-year-old Christian Humberto Alvarez of Waldorf, MD, and 23-year-old Khobe Manuel Prospere David of White Plains, MD, have been charged with two felonies and multiple misdemeanors. Both had a preliminary hearing on March 1st before Magisterial District Judge Christopher J. Cerski, with bail set at $15,000 for Alvarez and $25,000 for David. They were unable to post bail and are confined to Montgomery County Prison.
