Conshohocken’s former solicitor, Michael Savona, was charged with lying to the FBI on Tuesday. Savona served as solicitor for several municipalities, including Lower Southampton Township, where he was allegedly part of a bribery scheme. From the Bucks County Courier Times:

Former Lower Southampton solicitor Michael J. Savona has been charged with lying to federal investigators in connection with a corruption probe involving a trio of public officials.

Savona was charged Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia with a single count of making false statements to investigators, according to court records.

The charge is a felony.

Lots of politicians in a lot of municipalities really worried about this one.

Hey Conshy, your other past solicitor, Sean Kilkenny, appeared this week as a witness in a federal corruption trial involving the Mayor of Allentown. Kilkenny testified that he felt pressured into making a $2,500 donation to the mayor’s campaign while he had a proposal to take over the delinquent tax collection contract for Allentown. For that contract, Kilkenny was partnering with Northeast Revenue Service. Kilkenny and the owner of Northeast Revenue also took the Mayor of Allentown to a Eagles playoff game and a steak dinner.

Kilkenny is currently the elected Sheriff of Montco, the solicitor in Whitemarsh Township and the just appointed solicitor for Plymouth Township’s Zoning Board. He holds numerous other solicitor positions outside our coverage area.
