The Borough of Conshohocken has announced that Superintendent of Police George Metz will retire from the police department on June 30th of this year. Metz is a lifelong resident of Conshohocken and has served in its police department for 38 years.

“I have truly enjoyed my career serving the Borough of Conshohocken over the past 38 years as a patrol officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Chief,” said Metz. “There is no greater endeavor than service to your fellow human beings. I have been honored and blessed to provide that service to the community where I was raised.” 

Metz first joined the police force in 1985 as a part-time patrol officer. Within two years, Metz was made a full-time member and in 1997 earned a promotion to Sergeant. H would serve as a Sergeant for 17 years until he received another promotion in 2014 to Lieutenant.

Metz was sworn in as the Borough’s Superintendent of Police on June 20, 2018, following the retirement of Michael Orler.

“While I look forward to enjoying retirement, I will miss being part of our team and serving with truly great people.”

The borough plans to “actively engage in an extensive search process for the recruitment of a new Chief of Police. Notice will be provided once the recruitment process begins.”
