Conshohocken Restaurant Week is returning on June 13-19, 2011. This year’s participating restaurants include Isabella, Gypsy Saloon, Stella Blu, Flanigan’s Boathouse, Pepperoncini, The StoneRose, Guppy’s, Spamps, The Great American Pub, Shula’s 347 Grill, Spampinato’s, Trattoria Totaro and Totaro’s. More will be confirmed this week. There will also be a Preview Party on June 6th at the Philadelphia Marriott West in West Conshohocken that will benefit Cradles to Crayons. Only a limited number of tickets will be available for the Preview Party! Preview Party tickets go on-sale next Tuesday. Anthony Dimauro of Conshohocken won a seat at the Borgata’s Spring Poker Open through 97.5 The Fanatic.
On Saturday, April 30th, the West Conshohocken Borough Police Department will be participating in a Take Back Drugs program. This program is for the residents to dispose of their unused or expired medications in a safe manner. A officer will be at Borough Hall, 112 Ford Street, from 10:00am until 2:00pm to accept medications. Just stop by and drop them off.

As we mentioned previously, Isabella has went through some management changes and now Chef Michael Cappon is the operator of the restaurant. Beginning Monday, April 25th Chef Cappon will offer an 8 course Tapas Tasting Menu for $27. Available for dinner every Sunday through Wednesday, the menu features some of Isabella’s most popular dishes including Cochino Frito: Chili-dusted crispy pork belly with a sweet pea puree and pickled onions; Mussels in a roasted tomato jus with a crisp potato and arugula salad; And Pinchos de Carne: Chili and roasted garlic marinated beef skewers with a porcini mushroom crema with charred onion.

Healthy Stuff
The Daily Grind and Jen Fugo from Evolving Well are hosting “Learn to Read Food Labels” on Monday, April 25th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Daily Grind studio (4 East 1st Ave). The class will teach you how to read the nutrition label and ingredient list on food products, how to expertly decipher marketing slogans and messages on packaging, how to know if a product really lives up to any of its health claims and a bunch of other things. You are encouraged to bring four or five of your favorite food products with you so they can be deciphered. Must pre-register for event by emailing christy@dailygrindfitness.com. Limited space left in class. $20, includes worksheet and handouts.
Mission Fitness is holding Spring Bootcamp Program II at Sutcliffe Park from April 25th to May 27th. The camps will be held on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $140.00 and you can get $10 off for every friend you refer.

The Conshohocken Fire Department #2 will be holding its annual Easter Flower Sale on April 21st through April 23rd from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the firehouse located at 819 Fayette St.
Maple Acres Farm has a variety of Easter flowers available at their farm in Plymouth Meeting.
Foodie Events
On Monday, May 2nd Kevin Sbraga, season seven winner of Bravo’s Top Chef, will join Chef Chip Roman for a collaborative five-course meal at Blackfish Restaurant. Sbraga shares some history with Chip Roman. Both got their start working for Philly’s own Georges Perrier – Sbraga at Le Mas Perrier in Wayne and Roman at Le Bec Fin. And on Monday, May 2, the two chefs will team up to create one tip-top meal. Blackfish was recently named Philadelphia’s top restaurant by Philadelphia Magazine. For reservations call 610.397.0888.

Stella Blu is offering a Spring Fling Menu during April. From asparagus to spring peas and beets to fava beans, Stella Blu’s Spring Fling Menu features the flavors of this new season. The Colonial Democrats are honoring Conshohocken’s Liam McGuigan and the Democrat of the Year on Thursday, May 5th at the Whitemarsh Valley Country Club.
Lavenders Body Care Clinic now offers spray tan and they are doing a bunch of specials for the prom.
Totaro’s is hosting a benefit for Autism on April 28th.
Kamal from The Roots, along with The Boxing Show’s Henry Racich, will be Celebrity Bartending at Guppy’s on April 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Guppy’s is donating 25% of sales, along with all the tips, to Janie Carbo. Janie is an adorable little energetic girl who was born August 20th, 2004 with a rare genetic disorder called MIDAS syndrome (Microphthalmia, Dermal Apalsia, Sclerocornea), which only affects females. MIDAS left Janie blind at birth. Her left eye is under developed which requires her to wear a glass eye. The major expense not covered by insurance is her glass eye. Its considered “cosmetic” even though she needs it to prevent her face from caving in as she grows. The money we raise helps the family get through this without financial issues associated with her illness and adding to their stress. This disorder is so rare Janie was the first case at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Spamps is keeping their Friday Happy Hour going through the end of May. You can drink from a fish bowl, play with the lobsters, sing along on the microphone, enjoy the clam bake and hang out with friends and make some new ones.

Trattoria Totaro has Traditional Italian “Sunday Supper”on Monday Night. The supper includes four courses: soup of the day; Caesar Salad; homemade pasta with bracciola, Italian sausage and meatballs marinara; crusty bread with roasted garlic olive oil; and cannolies for dessert.

On May 7th, Baggataway is having their annual Cinqo de Mayo/Kentucky Derby party. They put up a big tent in the parking lot, have all types of food and drink and a couple bands perform.

Conshohocken Catholic’s annual Ducky Regatta will be held on May 14th at 10:00 a.m. The event allows you to buy a numbered “ducky” to benefit the school. The duckies are released in river and the first ducky to the bridge wins. Stay tuned for details on how to purchase your ducky.

Conshohocken’s Viridity Energy, a company leading the next generation of distributed energy resource management, announced it has entered into a master agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency Energy (DLA Energy) to pursue load curtailment at federal and military facilities across the United States.
