Hogs and Honeys Foundation for Kids will hold its annual Spring Fling fundraiser on March 30, 2019, from 7pm to midnight at The Valley Forge Casino Resort in King of Prussia and celebrate fifteen years of helping disadvantaged children in Montgomery County. Over the last 15 years, the organization has raised over $400,000 through their solely volunteer efforts. In 2004, a group of 40 friends gathered in a small venue to raise $1,000, which was donated to a single organization, to help local disadvantaged children. On March 30th, of this year, Hogs and Honeys Foundation for Kids will bring together close to 1,100 people to continue their mission of helping children in one of the county’s largest venues. The organization now raises $100,000 annually to support at least 6 organizations and more than 24 individual children. In the event’s early years, the planning occurred in the living room of Founders, Sam and Sue Gardy, a retired 911 operator. Today, the award-winning 501(c)(3) charity spends more than 1,200 man hours preparing for the event in their own office space with a volunteer Executive Board and Board of Directors. The Foundation provides services to local children in need. The majority of the money for these donations is raised at the annual Spring Fling. Some recent examples of donations provided to children include:
- Juvenile Detention Art Program funding
- Mindfulness Kits for children who are victims of Domestic Violence,
- Specialized After School Assistance
- Art and Equine Therapy Scholarships for children with PTSD -
- An 11-year-old boy, who was able to attend Equine Therapy through a donation from the Foundation, tearfully told his therapist “this was the first time I felt happy in my life.”
