Fire Overnight at Carfango Chevrolet on Ridge Pike in Plymouth Meeting -Firefighter Injured

Overnight there was a fire at Carfango Chevrolet at 1230 East Ridge Pike in Plymouth Meeting. According to various reports, the fire originated in the back service center and resulted in two alarms. A firefighter from Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company No. 49 was injured when a civilian car drove around barricades and struck the supply line.

Below are an Instagram post from Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company and several tweets from other media outlets (which include photos and video). First we have information on the the injured firefighter from the fire company:

Unfortunately, during the course of the operation, a civilian motor vehicle drove around the barricades at Sandy Hill Rd. striking the supply line and causing injury to one of our firefighters. The injured firefighter was transported by Plymouth Ambulance to Einstein Montgomery where they underwent treatment of a leg injury. The firefighter has since been discharged from the hospital but will undergo further testing and evaluation. The Officers and Members of Swedesburg Vol. Fire Co. would like to remind the public that it is illegal and dangerous to run over fire hose. In Pennsylvania, the fine for running over fire hose is punishable with a minimum of a $200 fine. While in this case only one firefighter was injured by the struck hose line, a charged hose line can burst possibly causing injury or death to not only firefighters near the hose line, but those that are actively engaged in fire suppression that are dependent on that water supply. We also ask the public to obey Fire Police lines and Road Closed signs as they are there not just for our safety but yours.
