Flyers’ Alumni, Mummers, Gritty, and more this Sunday in Conshohocken. Plus, details on road closures

The Philadelphia Flyers Alumni are taking over Conshohocken on Sunday, June 22nd, for the organization’s Walk, Run, and Ride event. Registration is still open online.

The Walk, Run, and Ride will follow a 5-kilometer course that starts at Hotel West and Main, continuing up Fayette Street, down West 8th Avenue, around Sutcliffe Park, and then back to the hotel.

The event kicks off at 9:00 a.m. with the bike ride, followed by a 10K race starting at 10:30 a.m. The event concludes with a 5K walk/run at 11:30 a.m.

The Plaza at SORA West, adjacent to Hotel West and Main, will host activities during the event, including an autograph session with Flyers alumni starting at 10 a.m. The Quaker City String Band and other musicians will begin performing at 10:40 a.m. There will also be face painters, touch-a-truck, and other family-friendly activities. Note that Quaker City will play at 11:30 a.m. to start the 5K. Gritty will be making an appearance at 10:30 a.m.

The Borough of Conshohocken has also announced road closures in connection to the event. The closures start on Sunday, June 22nd at 6:00 a.m.

  • West 1st Avenue from Forrest to Fayette Street
  • East 1st Avenue from Harry Street to Fayette Street
  • West 10th Avenue from Fayette Street to Freedley Street
  • West 11th Avenue from Fayette Street to Freedley Street
  • Sutcliffe Drive from Wood Street to Freedley Street
  • Forrest Street from West 9th Avenue to West 11th Avenue
  • Maple Street from West 9th Avenue to West 11th Avenue
  • Wood Street from West 9th Avenue to West 11th Avenue
  • Freedley Street from West 11th Avenue to the Sutcliffe Drive

Residents who have their cars parked on the following roads must move their cars on June 22nd by 6:00 a.m. If your vehicle is not moved, it will be moved by the Conshohocken Police Department.

  • Both sides of Fayette Street from Elm Street to 11th Avenue
  • Both sides of West 9th Avenue from Fayette Street to Wood Street
  • Both sides of Wood Street from West 9th Avenue to the Sutcliffe Drive
  • Both sides of West 11th Avenue from Fayette Street to Freedley Street
  • Freedley Street from West 11th Avenue to the Sutcliffe Drive

In the announcement about road closures, the borough offered, “Residents living inside the race course do not need to move their vehicles. Residents will be able to exit the area via vehicle using West 10th Avenue but may experience delays. Please note there will be no reentry to the area until the roads reopen starting at 12:30 p.m.”

The borough continued, “Affected residents can move their vehicles to any available on-street parking not on the course. The lower gravel parking lot on Sutcliffe Drive near the baseball fields between Freedley Street and Colwell Lane will be open for residential parking on Saturday night (June 21).”

Roads will be reopened starting at approximately 12:30 p.m., starting with West 11th Avenue.
