Conshohocken Brewing is releasing a new beer called Ghost Bear Golden Ale. The name sounds similar to the last name of Shayne Gostisbehere, who is a defenseman of the Philadelphia Flyers. The beer cans are even orange, black and white, which are the colors found on the Flyers’ jerseys.
Comcast Sports Net noticed the similarities earlier today and published an article expressing appreciation for the sly marketing for the beer. The article states:
Conshohocken Brewing absolutely killed it with the naming and branding on their latest beer: the Ghost Bear Golden Ale that just so happens to be in an orange and black can.
The similarity also caused a representative of Gostisbehere to release a state, which was also in the Comcast Sports Net article:
Worth noting from a representative of Shayne: “Shayne Gostisbehere has not endorsed, authorized nor is he affiliated with the beer product. It has been created without his knowledge or permission.”
T-shirt company PhillyPhaithful.com also uses the “ghost bear” symbolism for an unofficial t-shirt using emoji.
You can find the new beer at the brewery’s tap room in Conshohocken and brew pub in Bridgeport starting at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
