On April 26th, the Atlantic 10 Conference named Saint Joseph’s junior Sophia Kolkka as Defensive Player of the Week. Kolkka is a native of Lafayette Hill and graduated from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.

Kolkka, a midfielder, earned the recognition by totaling 10 ground balls and causing six turnovers last week. During the Hawks’ 10-9 win over Duquesne on April 23rd, she scooped up seven ground balls and caused five turnovers. Her performance helped seal a postseason slot for the Hawks. She then added three more ground balls and another caused turnover against UMass on April 25th.
