It is election time and there are three races to represent the 19428 zip code. So, if you live in Ward 1 (the Grande and generally over near Guppy’s), it is Manan Trivedi (Democrat) vs. Jim Gerlach (Republican, Incumbent). Everywhere else in Conshohocken and West Conshohocken the race is between Pat Meehan (Republican) vs. Bryan Lentz (Democrat). If you live in Plymouth or Whitemarsh, but have a Conshohocken address, your choice is between Allyson Schwartz (Democrat, Incumbent) vs. Dee Adcock (Republican). The Philadelphia Inquirer published their endorsements yesterday. The Daily News also published an endorsement in the Lentz/Meehan race. Over the weekend the death of Conshohocken’s Fran Crippen made news around the world. Crippen (obituary from Philly.com) was an All-American swimmer at the University of Virginia and hoped to compete in the Olympics. He died during a six mile ocean race in the United Arab Emirates. His death has led to calls for the regulations governing races to be tightened and has also sparked controversy and calls for an investigation due to officials in the UAE claiming that the official cause of death was drowning. Meatball Wars broke out between The Outbound Station and Spampinato’s yesterday. Both restaurants are selling meatball sandwiches through November 22. A dollar from every sandwich sold will go towards $100 for 100. There is also going to be a Meatball Wars’ event on Monday, November 22nd at Spamps. Rumor has it that a handful of other restaurants will be bringing their meatballs to this event. Stay tuned for more details on this.

The organizers of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade held in Conshohocken are looking for nominations for a Grand Marshall.
There was a full fledged rock & roll show last Wednesday at Gypsy. David Uosikkinen, drummer for the Hooters and West Conshy resident, brought together a group of musicians, including Hooters bandmates Rob Hyman and Eric Brazilian, for the launch party of In the Pocket: The Essential Songs of Philadelphia. The annual Conshohocken Halloween Parade will be held on October 30th starting at 4:00 p.m. You can find full details here.
