It looks like the house, which for the recent past has been offices, at 6th and Fayette is about to be knocked down to make room for a Continental Bank.  A fence with a safety tape went up a week or so ago.

Kim Kmat won her third consecutive Chili Throwdown at the Casmar Cafe.  Coming in second was Melanie Williams and in third was eight year old Brianna Cassidy.  Come in first in the men’s division and fourth overall was Brad Culp.

Flanigan’s Boathouse held a Golden Tee Tournament during January and the Top 16 players met on Saturday to determine the champion.  Coming in first was Mike Stankina (far left), second was Dominick Tutino (2nd on left) and third was Justin Miller (far right).  Andy Rotundo (2nd on right) was among the qualifiers.

MoreThanTheCurve.com and Edwards Freeman Nut Company held a snowman contest over the weekend.  Coming in first was Bunnie Austin Malazita (her snowman is pictured above), second was the Dadonna family and third was 8 East.

The recently opened Conshohocken Cafe was profiled on the front page of the Times Herald Business Section last week.  Pictured is Tim Mulvey, one of the owners of the cafe.

Conshohocken’s C.J. Aiken is making an impact on the court for the Saint Joseph’s University Hawks.

Pepperoncini is in the final stages of opening an additional restaurant, Pepperoncini Soto, in Phoenixville.

The Times Herald also had a story about Henry Racich’s ‘The Boxing Show” on ESPN 950 AM, that is broadcast from Totaro’s on Thursday nights at 9:00 a.m.

This past weekend, Guppy’s hosted a fundraiser for the Wylie’s Day Foundation, which funds cutting edge Pediatric Brain Tumor research towards the DAY when no child needs to suffer from this disease.  The foundation also supports programs at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Oncology Child life department.  The event raised $11,500 for CHOP and the Ronald McDonald House.

Jason Salus (D), who currently represents Ward 1 on Borough Council, has announced that he is running for the office of Treasurer for Montgomery County.  He does not plan to seek re-election to Borough Council.  Salus is holding his kick-off fundraiser at 8 East on February 17th.  Click here for the details.

In other Montco politics, current Montco Commissioner Jim Hoeffel has decided to not seek re-election opening the door for State Rep. Josh Shapiro, D-153 Dist., and Leslie Richards, a current Whitemarsh Township supervisor, to run.  They will most likely face current Commissioner Bruce Castor (R) and a to be named candidate from the Republican side.  Here is a story detailing what is going on with the Republicans.

Melissa Schumacher is trying to organize a Blood Drive in Conshy for April or May.  She needs 45 people to commit to hold the drive.  If you are open to committing, email her at littleirishhoneybee@yahoo.com.
