The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 p.m. In addition to the parade, which lasts about two hours, pretty much every bar does something special for the day. Here is what I know thus far:
Flanigan’s Boathouse will have $5.00 Guinness, Smithwick and Harp drafts (any drink containing these). Their St. Patrick’s Day special will be for both Saturday the 12th and Thursday the 17th!
The Conshohocken Cafe will be serving their usual brunch on Saturday before the parade, plus will be serving cheesesteaks and other treats out front during the parade.
If you have not picked up a “Kiss Me I’m From Conshy” t-shirt yet, we will have a limited amount available during the parade in front of The Conshohocken Cafe. We still have plenty of large and extra larges available.
The Great American Pub is having Paul Moore & Friends after the Parade, plus lots of Irish food including corned beef and cabbage, lamb stew, shepherds pie and banger sausages all day. Moore is formally of Blackthorn and Paddy’s Well.
8 East is having a “Kiss Our Irish Ass Lass” Party the day on March 12th for the parade. You can get all the details here.
On parade day, Guppy’s is opening at 8:00 a.m. and offering an authentic Irish breakfast. During the day there will be free ham and cabbage, bag pipes, $4 Tullamore Dew shots. On the 17th, Guppy’s will have live music with Dave Duong going Irish. There will be $2 Bud Light drafts and $4 personal shepherds pies and $4 Tullamore Dew shots.
Maloney’s Pub will open at 11:00 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day! They will have beer and drink specials all day; including green beer, shots and drinks and their FAMOUS Maloney’s Pub Shamrock Shake! There will be Irish Music and free give-aways and Ham & Cabbage and other Irish Favorites on the menu.
For St. Patrick’s Day, Baggataway is having beer specials, corn beef and cabbage and live music.
Don’t worry about the weather. Saturday is supposed to 58 degrees!

David Uosikkinen’s In the Pocket: The Essential Songs of Philadelphia returned to the studio last week to record the Dovell’s “You Can’t Sit Down.” The musicians brought together for this recording at Conshohocken’s Elm Street Studio were Eric Bazilian (Hooters), Graham Alexander (cast “Rain” on Broadway) , Rob Hyman (Hooters), Jerry Blavat (The Geator), Tommy Conwell (Solo Artist), Uosikkinen (Hooters) and Jay Davidson (sax).

Conshohocken’s Invitations of Distinction is participating in the Youth Party Planning Showcase on March 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Case Gallery Main Line.
With Jason Salus out of the next Borough Council race to focus on a county wide position there are rumors of who will run to replace him. I have also heard rumblings about another current Borough Council member not running for re-election.

Conshohocken Restaurant Week is returning on June 13-19, 2011. Last year we had 17 restaurants participate and this year we hope to add a couple more. There will also be a Preview Party on June 6th at the Philadelphia Marriott West in West Conshohocken that will benefit Cradles to Crayons. Robin for Guppy’s told me he is starting to put together a great line-up of Celebrity Bartenders for “Thursday’s for Janie” this April. A second annual Bachelor Auction is also being planned for May. More details to follow.
Guppy’s has also changed its Karaoke schedule. DJ Dan will now be hosting Karaoke on the first Wednesday of every month at 9:00 p.m.
