On the May 14th agenda for West Conshohocken’s Borough Council

On the May 14th agenda for West Conshohocken’s borough council are several items of note, including a hearing a proposed ordinance that would regulate the use of single-use plastic bags, straws, and other items if adopted.

Other items on the agenda include a resolution to authorize the flying of the pride flag during the month of June, an update on the McKenzie Park project, and bids for paving and the removal of architectural barriers.

Under old business, there will be a discussion and consideration of a five-year extension of the borough’s agreement to utilize Covanta for its trash. The borough’s public works department takes the trash it collects to the plan in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township) where it is burned as part of a process to generate electricity. The council will also consider whether to extend its contract with J.P. Mascaro & Sons to collect the town’s recycling.

As we previously reported, Councilmember Zachary Nelson resigned and the council will vote to accept that resolution. They will also consider candidates for appointment to the seat.
