Philadelphia man suing PennDOT, Montgomery County, and Plymouth Township after stepping in pothole

Michael Smith of Philadelphia filed a lawsuit on April 8th in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas against PennDOT, Montgomery County, and Plymouth Township. Smith is seeking $50,000 after an October 2023 incident claiming that he stepped into a pothole, fell, and was injured. The pothole was in his path to a bus stop near the intersection of Ridge Pike and Alan Wood Road in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township).

The suit outlines that the three defendants have a legal responsibility to maintain safe conditions on the roadway where the incident occurred. The defendants have not yet responded to the lawsuit.
