Bloomin Brands, the owner of the the Outback Steakhouse at 322 Ridge Pike in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township) is planning to demolish the current building and replace it with a new restaurant format. According to a review document from the Montgomery County Planning Commission, Bloomin Brands is planning a new building that is just under 7% smaller than the current restaurant (5,035 square feet vs. 6,799 square feet currently).
The decrease in the size of the restaurant is something Outback is doing across the country. The typical Outback is approximately 6,000 square feet. The new smaller restaurant footprint is geared to optimize kitchen space, provide a spacious dining room and bar areas to accommodate approximately 187 guests, and allow for Outback to handle an expanded focus on delivery channels and off-premise catering.
The plan is currently under review by Plymouth Township.
Please note that the article we linked to in the second paragraph focuses on new restaurants, not replacing existing ones. However, the smaller restaurant model is also replacing existing locations.
