Lafayette Hill native, Plymouth Whitemarsh High School grad, and now comedian Matt Goldich recently shared a video of the 1997 state semifinal baseball game between Plymouth Whitemarsh and Chambersburg. The video shows Plymouth Whitemarsh’s John Salmons making a last-second shot to win the game. Salmons would go on to play for the University of Miami and have a 13-year career in the NBA.
Goldich was calling the game for the student-run television station. He is currently a writer for Late Night with Seth Meyers. You can watch his 2024 comedy special, No Questions Asked, here.
The Colonials defeated Franklin Regional Senior High School 50-45 to capture the state crown.
In honor of the Final Four this weekend here’s me calling future NBA player John Salmons’ buzzer beater to send Plymouth-Whitemarsh HS to the state championship game in 1997. Sadly I missed the final because it was my first night working as a grocery bagger. #priorities #fbf pic.twitter.com/FgyaoblUB7
