Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Ty Borkowski to compete in wrestling state championships

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School senior Ty Borkowski will be the schools’ lone competitor in the PIAA Individual Wrestling Championships being held March 7-8 in Hershey. Borkowski competes in the 152 AAA pound weight class.

Borkowski has wrestled all four years of high school and has steadily improved each year. He went 7-5 his freshman year in the 138 weight class, 23-17 as a sophomore in the 145 weight class, and 29-7 in his current weight class. Leading up to the station championships, he is 34-6 and ranked 6th in District One. Borkowski’s only losses this season came against a former state champion and other qualifiers.

Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s last state champions in wrestling date back to 1998 and 2011. Justin Giovinco won the 1998 state championship in the 140 pound weight class and John-Michael Staudenmayer in 2011 in the 171 pound weight class.
