Plymouth Whitemarsh High School’s Jim Donofrio, coach of the boys’ basketball program, was recently named Pennsylvania’s 2025-26 Boys Basketball Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA).

From an article published by the Colonial School District:

While the distinction was a surprise to him [Donofrio], the award might seem long overdue to anyone who has been a Plymouth Whitemarsh High School basketball fan for any length of time. Coach Donofrio has been a force since the ‘90s. His career highlights include leading the team to the 2010 PIAA Class 4A State Championship, earning more than 500 career victories, induction into PW’s Distinguished Graduates Organization in 2011, and induction into the Montgomery County Coaches Hall of Fame in 2017. He has been named the Times Herald Coach of the Year seven times, and was the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Coach of the Year in 2010. Just last year, he led the boys basketball team to victory at the District 1-6A championships and to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs.
