Pocket Park Coming to Corner of Butler Pike and Flourtown Road

Have you noticed the work being done at the corner of Butler Pike and Flourtown Road and wondered what is being built? It isn’t townhomes or a Wawa. It is a pocket park that is being added to Whitemarsh Township’s park system. Here is the announcement:

Whitemarsh Township is proud to announce the preservation and creation of a scenic gateway pocket park at the corner of Butler Pike and Flourtown Road which will be known as Cold Point Park. The parcel was purchased in 2012 with proceeds from the Whitemarsh Township Open Space Fund, and is named after the historic Village of Cold Point. Cold Point Park will be a scenic passive park with a welcoming sign, flowering trees, and seasonal plantings. A highlight of the area will be an internal meandering accessible walkway that leads to a center focal point with a trellis and benches. This beautification project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2018.
