Possible clue about proposed convenience store and gas station in Conshohocken

As MoreThanTheCurve.com has reported, there is a proposed convenience store with gas pumps for 620 Ridge Pike in Conshohocken (Plymouth Township). The project is currently going through the approval process in Plymouth Township.

The developer, BET Investments, hasn’t revealed which convenience store/gas station operator would make its home on the property.

Wawa is obviously the local favorite; however, Sheetz is moving into the region and recently opened its first location in Montgomery County.

One thing that has been highlighted about the project during public meetings is that the convenience store will have a mobile pick-up window (this is not a traditional drive-thru, orders must be placed prior to arrival).

We initially thought this would be a Sheetz, as it seemed to have more fully embraced the concept of mobile pickup windows; however, Wawa publicly embraced the concept more fully this month.

In an article in the Philadelphia Business Journal, it is reported that Wawa has fully dropped its experiment with traditional drive-thru windows and is planning to build new stores with mobile pickup windows and add them to existing stores when possible. Wawa refers to the windows as “Fly Thrus.”

Thus far, the proposed convenience store/gas station has been recommended for approval by the township’s planning commission, and one zoning hearing has been held.
