As students arrived at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting (Whitemarsh Township) on March 21st, Whitemarsh Township police officers had a noticeable presence on the campus. The precautionary measure followed an investigation by the Plymouth Township Police Department into a social media post allegedly created by a student. In an email to parents, Principal Dr. Jason Bacani shared that the message did not make a direct threat but did include gun imagery.
Following is the email sent to parents:
Last night, we were made aware of a concerning social media post allegedly created by a Plymouth Whitemarsh High School student. The post included images of guns but did not contain a direct threat toward the school.
Upon learning of this, we immediately contacted the Plymouth Police Department, which promptly began an investigation. Officers spoke with the student and the family last evening and are continuing their investigation today. While there was no imminent threat to our students or school, the Whitemarsh Police Department has increased its presence on campus this morning as a precautionary measure.
We appreciate the swift response and ongoing support of both the Plymouth and Whitemarsh Police Departments. The safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
